As a veterinary technician, heart worm disease is something I come across daily in my line of work. I mean who wants to think about their beloved pet suffering from the presence of a parasite living in the heart and blood vessels? That sounds just awful to me. Heartworm disease is so common in the US, the fact is that heartworm disease has been diagnosed in all 50 states. It is one of the most life-threatening infectious disease affecting pets.
Fortunately for pet owners it can be prevented through routine blood/diagnostic testing and year round preventive medication
Heartworms is spread by the bite of a mosquito. Not all mosquitoes carry heartworm, as the parasite enters mosquitoes only after feeding on the blood of a heartworm-positive animal.
We offer heartworm test daily and have a number of different preventative medications to get your pet started.
